AJ Schwartz is a director and producer who loves good theatre and the people who make it. That's why I got some of my favorite theatremakers together to start The Walk-Up. Here is some good theatre I’ve worked on: Kubrickian (Factory Theater), How You Kiss Me Is Not How I Like To Be Kissed (Haven Chicago), Next Door (Bramble Theatre), Dr. Ride’s American Beach House, and You Feel So Far Away Right Now with Here Are Some Plays I Like, and Mike Pence Sex Dream, and Refrigerator (First Floor Theater, dir. Hutch Pimentel). Here are some other good things in my life: long bike rides down the north channel trail, the wall I painted purple in my living room, friends who laugh at my jokes and enjoy my cooking, my library card and all the books I get with it, grapefruit, and the city of Chicago.
Elisabeth Del Toro (she/her): Chicago credits include Dead Girls’ Quinceañera (Goodman Theatre), DOGS (Red Theater), The Best Damn Thing (Understudy Coffee and Books), The Ballad of Lefty and Crabbe (Underscore Theatre), and Parachute Men (Teatro Vista). Elisabeth has a background in improv and sketch comedy, and degrees from the University of Chicago and the University of Glasgow. Represented by Grossman and Jack Talent. Taylor Mercado Owen is a multi-hyphenate theatre artist based in Chicago. Acting credits: Kubrickian (The Factory Theater), The Real Housewives of The North Pole (Hell in a Handbag), Big Time Toppers (Theatre L’Acadie), Luchadora! (Cara Mía Theatre), and 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Collin Theatre Center). As a stage manager: Le Bal (Trap Door Theatre), Squeamish (Bump in the Night), Funny, Like An Abortion (Fat Theatre Project), The Totality of All Things (Redtwist), and ASM for Turret (A Red Orchid). As a director, he's staged productions of The Yellow Boat, Private Eyes, Dog Sees God, and assisted on Chicago: Queerly Adapted from the Play (Redtwist), Ghost Quartet (IMPRINT Theatreworks), and Anon(ymous) (Collin Theatre Center). Taylor holds a BA in Theatre Performance from the University of North Texas, is an alumnus of The ACADEMY at Black Box Acting, & is an Ensemble Member at The Factory Theater.
Isabel Rivera is excited to be returning to Some Plays We Like for its 4th year! Some past works include Our Dear Dead Drug Lord (Steep Theatre) Tasters (U/S, Rivendell), After (Barrens Theatre Company), Goose (Rhinofest dir. Brent Eickhoff), and 123 (Wayward Sisters Ensemble).
